remote is a little taped together but it works. it turns on and plugs in. I don't really know how to connect a TV to cable or things but I know it connects to stuff. My aunt used it until recently and gifted it to me but I am blind as a bat and can't see more than like 1 foot away from my face so its too small for me to use. Remote comes with batteries.
